Twitter CEO: Bitcoin offers the future of online security

Tech entrepreneur Jack Dorsey, in a new conversation, stated that bitcoin and blockchain are giving hope for a potential future of pseudonymity.

Jack Dorsey, Twitter’s CEO, spoke about a surge of crypto-related Twitter attacks recently observed in the Oslo Freedom Forum interview:

“I appreciate the difference between pseudonymity and anonymity. Anonymity feels a lot more random, whereas pseudonymity is built identity…that is what we want to value and that is what we want to protect ultimately,”

In the cryptocurrency sense, pseudonymity usually refers to the situation in which cryptocurrency investors are identified (semi-known) by their wallet addresses. In the other hand, the wallet-owners stay anonymous and unidentifiable.

He proceeded to make parallels between the essence of Twitter and Bitcoin. He said,

“We are building the right secure systems in our platforms so that we can have trust in an untrusted environment. There’s a lot of newer technologies that provide for this. The whole spirit of Bitcoin, for instance, is to provide a trusted system in a distrusted environment, which is the internet. And those technologies will provide us with new capabilities.”

Following recent crypto-related attacks on Twitter, the exec claimed that security was not an aspect that could be enhanced. In his view, defense is something of a “a constant push to be 10 steps ahead of your attackers.”

Dorsey used Bitcoin as a symbol that the element of ownership is quite significant. He continued that consumers could have core features in their wallets in a similar manner to that of Bitcoin. Bitcoin users generally have unique access to the confidential keys and wallet tokens.

The Twitter exec was also eager to praise blockchain, in particular its existence, i.e. open and irreversible. “Blockchain and Bitcoin point to a future and point to a world, where content exists forever, where it’s permanent, where it doesn’t go away, where it exists forever on every single node that’s connected to it” emphasised Dorsey.
